player States

States are common mechanics that are shared among several Abilities or effects. To save player time and effort, these common mechanics have been filtered down in to a few States that can be applied to a player as needed. The effects of a State cease to affect a player if the State itself would be removed from that player or the effect/Ability that granted the State is ended or removed. Two copies of the same State may not be applied to the same player. If a State is applied to a player that is already being affected by that State, the duration of the State (if there is one) is set to the higher of the two durations of each of the duplicated States. States are removed from a player when they die, unless otherwise stated. States that are inflicted as part of an attack are applied after any Wounds from the attack are dealt, but before that player would die as a result of those Wounds.

Flying

While Flying, the player is not stopped by Blocked Terrain and may not interact with other players or game objects at Touch range or in melee combat, unless that player or object is also Flying, or designated as being over 10' tall. The Flying player is also unaffected by ranged attacks or effects that do not originate from more than 20' away. Likewise, they may not use a ranged attack or effect on a target that is 20' away or less. Flying players may not interrupt or impede the play of other players that they cannot interact with. Flying players may end their flight, by chanting 'Landing' for 5 seconds. a player's Flying State is removed if they become Immobile or Stunned.

Frenzied

Frenzied is a player State that lasts 30 seconds. The player must chant the Frenzied duration count out loud, or the State is immediately ended. If the duration expires or the player fails to chant the duration, then the player becomes Stunned for 60 seconds. The Frenzied State can be removed by other effects or if the player causes at least 2 wounds to either enemy players or friendly players. In these cases, the player is not Stunned after the Frenzied State is removed.

Hidden

Hidden players cannot be affected by players or game objects unless an Ability or effect specifically allows targeting or affecting Hidden players. Hits sustained while Hidden do not count. Targeting or attacking another player while Hidden ends the Hidden state unless otherwise noted. Effects that target or affect an area that the Hidden player is in still affect them like normal.

Immobile

Immobile players must keep their feet planted on the ground and may not move them. They may still fight and interact with other players or game objects, but they cannot pivot or change the position of their feet. Effects that force a player to move will fail when used on an Immobile player unless otherwise stated. Becoming Immobile will end the Flying state.

Out of Game

Out of Game players are unable to affect in-game objects or players in anyway and are unaffected by all game effects, except for the effect that caused this State.

Silenced

Silenced players may not activated Abilities. Effects that are already ongoing or in effect when the Silenced State is applied are not affected.

Slowed

Immobile players must keep one foot on the ground at all times and may not run or jump.

Stunned

Stunned players may not move from their position, and cannot fight or use any Abilities. They may not speak or make communicative gestures, other than to communicate to other players that they are Stunned and cannot act.

Tainted

Tainted players may not have their wounds healed or use any shapeshifting Abilities (unless otherwise specified) until the Tainted state is removed. If an ongoing effect or Ability cannot be used while Tainted, and the player becomes Tainted while the effect is already in place, that effect or Ability is ended.
